The Shri Ganapatikamesh Matha was officially formed on July 3, 2011 by a group of individuals who had been regularly meeting for satsang each week over several years. It was decided on this date, for various reasons, to formalize the organization rather than just remain a casual group. Ganapati Kamesh, Vajrakaya Ananda, and Dayalu Sudarshan chose a simple name for the organization* and filled out Articles of Incorporation papers and mailed them to the Oklahoma Secretary of State's office. The Shri Ganapatikamesh Matha, Inc. was officially recognized by the State of Oklahoma on August 11, 2011. The Shri Ganapatikamesh Matha then filed for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) with the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS). We received our number on August 18, 2011.
The Shri Ganapatikamesh Matha considers itself a Sarva Vishva Sanatana Dharma organization, that is to say that the organization considers itself to be a Universal All-encompassing Hindu organization. The Shri Ganapatikamesh Matha does not consider or designate itself as Sanatani, Samaji, or Santpathi and instead considers and designates itself as Sarvi. Members of the organization are free to practice, learn, and explore from any of Hinduism's splendid traditions, denominations, sects, teachers, saints, etc and as an organization we strive to make these as accessible as possible to them.
The Shri Ganapatikamesh Matha's membership is open to all interested people seeking to learn, explore, and practice Hinduism regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic condition, political affiliation, or any other means by which humanity divides the differences between us.
*While naming the organization after an individual was initially disputed by the person for whom the organization takes its name, a compromised was reached between this person and the other founding members whereby the person's name could be used provided it is used as a single word in the name.
